Session: A New Kind of Clubbing: Creating Virtual Student Spaces

With schools closed and families isolated at home, students face unique mental health challenges that directly impact their academic achievements.

We’ll explore how the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle, WA pivoted programming to create safe, student-centered social spaces through our virtual student club program.

Using museum content to drive our clubs, we connect students to like-minded peers and develop their socio-emotional skills in a safe, remote environment.

From building self-sustaining communities in Minecraft to learning from professional cosplay artists or discussing graphic novels, we’ll investigate how MoPOP’s club programs support students’ mental health by creating student-centered virtual environments.
