Rianne Schoonderbeek is Head of Education at the Drents Museum, located in the North of the Netherlands.
She previously worked at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, the Nederlands Fotomuseum and the Groninger Museum.
In her spare time she’s part of the team that organises Night Shift, a monthly debate evening for the cultural sector (currently online). She started her current job at the Drents Museum on the 1st of March 2020, which meant a quick pivot to digital with a team that had no digital background.

Session: Thinking big on a budget
With the start of the pandemic, the cultural world seemed to go into overdrive. There was an abundance of free online content being pushed out into the world. We don’t know about you, but a slight feeling of panic initially came over us. What to do? Where to start? How to priotise? Because, in times of uncertainty and limited budgets, and as a museum that’s not at a digital frontrunner, what can you bring to the table? The Drents Museum decided to make optimal use of its own assets and to think big on a budget.
